1 Introduction
    MT6168 is a multi-mode multi-band transceiver offering unparalleled integration and feature set resulting in the lowest eBoM in the industry. It is fully compliant with TD-SCDMA HSPA (3GPP Rel. 7), as well as supporting GSM/GPRS/EDGE modes (GGE). It constitutes with MediaTek’s baseband modem ICs and is a complete chipset solution for TD-SCDMA cellular user equipment. Quad-band GGE and TD-SCDMA Band 34, 39 and 40 is provided in terms of frequency ranges and flexible band
allocation.

   The direct conversion receiver is part of an over-sampled sigma-delta architecture, which shifts more signal conditioning to digital baseband (DBB) and results in optimum HSDPA throughput. The direct modulation transmitter (8PSK/3G), combined with a low noise GMSK constant envelope modulator or DFM (Direct-Frequency Modulation), delivers high modulation accuracy with exceptionally low noise and eliminates the need for transmit SAW filters in any of the supported GGE and 3G modes. On-chip
impairments compensation is used to guarantee optimum 3G Rx and Tx performance. An on-chip VCO at 2xLO (HB)/4xLO (LB) frequency provides the local oscillator required for Rx and Tx sections; which is followed by frequency dividers and is locked to the system reference via a fast-settling RF
Fractional-N PLL.

   MT6168 is housed in a 5.4x7.0mm2 171-pin TFBGA package with 0.40mm pin pitch
