Six months internship at MSRA

Until June 17, I will have been interning at MSRA for half a year. During this period, I have learned a lot and made a large number of new friends. Frankly speaking, MSRA has the best research environment all over China, where one can learn knowledge of his/her interesting areas and make some achievements in those areas. There are many excellent papers and applications born at MSRA every year, many of which become world-wide famous and valuable to the advances of science and technology. Thus, interning there is a so exciting and happy thing.

 

For me, the most important progresses that I made is two-fold. One is that I learned a lot in the areas of machine learning and parallel computing, and laid a solid foundation for higher education and future career. More specifically, I dived into the theory and practice of classification algorithms, which are a key concept and fundamental component of machine learning, as well as the programming on graphics processing unit, which may become a trend of parallel computing in the future. The other benefit is that I enhanced my pool level, too. Since very little, I like watching snooker or pool games on TV and playing pool myself. At MSRA, there are several pool tables in the working building, together with some other entertainment facilities such as pingpang ball and foosball, which is a very popular office game nowadays. I always enjoy playing pool in the activity room with my colleages and friends after hard work. It is pretty cool.

 

In the coming days, I will work even harder in research in machine learning and parallel computing because they give me the passion and joy for research and let me fulfill my own desires and interests for achievements. I love this kind of life.
