Database descriptor (DBD)

Contains internal information, called databasedescriptors (DBDs), about the databases that exist within the DB2 subsystem.

A DBD also contains other information about accessingtables in the database. DB2 createsand updates DBDs whenever their corresponding databases are createdor updated.
