Why we shop online is not hard to figure out! All of us have bought products on the web at one time or another. Our reason for doing it is not much different from the everyday consumer.

We feel that the top reason is because of the convenience and ease of use, and the ability to shop 24/7. We only have so many hours in a day and typically not a lot of extra time to go to a crowded store to find the anniversary present we should have gotten two months ago. You can order a gift three weeks in advance and have it sent to the office, worry free; however you will still need to remember to take it home...

Why else would we shop online rather than go to a store? We shop online because we have the ability to compare identical products from 5 different stores from the comfort of your own home. You will not need to stop by Store 1, see that their price is high; jump in the car and go to store 2, where you realize you now need to go to Store 3; You get to Store 3 to notice that Store 1 had the best price anyway, which is still high. Frustrated yet?

The web gives us the ability to find unique items from all over the world; most stores in your local market tend to sell items related to that area. This is especially true in the sporting world! You're an Eagles fan living in Boston, I can just about guarantee that if you go into your local sporting venue and ask for an Eagles Jersey they are going to laugh. By shopping on the web, you can live in any part of the country and have access to your favorite team's merchandise.

Why else would we shop online rather than jump in the car and head to our local shopping mall? Well for starters, before we get to the end of our block, we realize we are out of gas; so we head to our local gas station where we see the price of gas has just gone up, AGAIN. We all know that shopping online is becoming more and more of an option, rather than paying the high gas prices!

Online retailers are researching and developing ways to improve the ease of shopping and security on their sites. Retailers are starting to integrate live operators that are available to answer your questions immediately; consumers tend to like this as they do not have a rude salesman in their face. Retailers are making shopping much more worry free with new fraud technology and the ability to make the shopper feel secure with their purchases.

While shopping at stores will never become obsolete, as it shouldn't; we all know that buying online is getting much more popular and appealing for all of us, whether we are retailers ourselves, or a consumer.
