Three prepared speech

Helen zhao----my father is in my heart

Gaolan ---- my affection for slimming

Roy brought us a special impromptu speaking session:i have a dream.

Pam won the best speaker.Her topic is get married in England the longer the better.

 

I took a role as grammarian.my first time.

This is a tough job.i need to take a record of the improper usage of english during their deliveris.

So i tried to focus on the listening skills and took a note of everyone's speech.

 

What i have done good as a grammarian?

Focus on the listening,

take a record

Talked individually

 

Advice from other members on how to improve.

Gaofeng:control the time

        List some key points instead of list everything.

Guofeng:have a clear structure, opening,body,ending.especially the ending part,make a summary.

John:when people gave you advice,ask more in details on how to do.

"everything you have told me is technically correct, but It’s of no use to anyone"

 

Helen talked with me that i was doing better recently compared with the guy three weeks ago.

I really appreciate the encouraging words.

 

Ps:My introduction as a grammarian.

Hi i am rocky,i am today's grammarian.as a grammarian my responsibility lies in two folds:

first,introduce a word called word of the day.

Second,i i will take a record of the improper usage of words,grammar and so on of the English language.i will also take a record of the good use of the English.

So word of the day is appreciate.

I choose this word because i think it's important to appreciate the good.

Let's look at the word "appreciate".

Two meanings:first meaning-to say thank you for something,not to take it for granted.

For example,thanks for your coming today, i really appreciate it.

Which means i feel grateful for your coming today,not take it for granted.

but appreciate has a second meaning,which is to grow.

Money appreciates in the bank.

The economy hopefully appreciates.

when we appreciate the good ,the good appreciates-the good grows.

Unfortunately,the other side of the same corn applies as well.when we don't appreciate the good,when we take it for granted,the good depreciates.
