A lottery is a game of chance in which the players have an equal oportunity to win prizes.Lotteries have had a long history in the Western world. While providing entertainment, they have helped raise funds for the construction of bridge, roads, hospitals and schools, including Harvard,Yale and Princeton,The first state-organized lottery with cash prizes was held in Italy almost 500 years ago.The idea soon spread to England and,in the early 1600s,crossed the Atlantic with the first settlers,George Washington used a lottery to support the Revolutionary Army, and Thomas Jefferson used lotteries to fund public projects

In China the use of lotteries to fund welfare and sports projects is quite recent development ,Many people find great fun and excitement in this officially approved gamble,They think that by risking a few yuan, they might get rich overnight,From time to time,as the lotteries are drawn,we do hear news of a few lucky ones who have won a brand-new car or plenty of cash,And those who do not have the luck to win anything find consolation in the idea that part of money they have lost will go to a public cause or help relieve the poor and needy.

I am not a passionate lover of gambing, nor an ardent advocate of lotteries,But I am not opposed to them, either,If the lotteries are operated underproper goverment supervision and the proceeds from lotteries are used to fund a good cause, there will be no harm done,But I do worry about compulsive gamblers who spend too much of their money buying lottery tickets,What benefits can it do if a very tiny minority get rich while a lot more lottery addicts end up on welfare roll? Therefore,I advise moderation,Toomuch fanfare about winning and getting rich is misleading,Instead, a warning notice should be put up at every lottery ticket office:Your chance of winning the lottery is minimal.
