The future for mobile application development

 

I graduated in 2008 in Singapore. The labor market in Singapore was really bad because of the global financial crisis, and I couldn’t even get a job. Finally, I got a job in a financial printing company. That means I was doing something that is totally irrelevant to what I learned or the University itself. I was telling myself that it’s ok to try, thinking maybe I could make a success with the company. It has been two and a half years since my graduation. I was fired by the financial printing company recently because I could do a good job. All of a sudden, I was waken up, and I appreciated the company for terminating the contract because It happened before it was too late.

I rethought about my life, my career, and what kind of skills/ personalities that I was born with for 6 months, and I kept applying different jobs in order to earn some money for meals. Unluckily, It was so difficult to find a job. Applying jobs everyday made me crazy, so frustrated, and self-confidence was zero. I was heading nowhere.

 

The good news came on my birthday. I was reading news with my iPhone 4. There was a news changed my life. The news was about the 4 hot job trends in 2011, and number 1 was iphone apps development. Good! Good! I was thinking about this because the industry was in such a luck of talents, and they don’t mind recruiting fresh graduates or people without much experience. I sent around 30 applications after that day. Got 3 interview invitations. During my second interview, I was given an offer within two hours after the interview, which all happened last Friday. Today was actually my first with the new company. So happy. I can see a clear career path ahead of me. As long as I work hard steadily, I should be able to make some money.

 

I am sharing my story to some people that was thinking to change an industry. Maybe you can try mobile application industry. Also for people in this industry already, keep moving, we are so lucky to be just in time, because the industry was just boosted around 2-3 years ago. All the best! Good Luck!
