How can get a hot software idea? (ZT)

IMO the best software products evolve from a real "need". In other words if you find an area where you need something and can't find a solution you have discovered a potential hot software idea. 

If you have an area of interest ask users what areas their software could perform better. Its best to develop software in an area where you understand the needs. Developing software while learning an industry can be difficult. That said, I think the least successful products are product clones where developers just create knock-offs of successful products. Think outside the box and find a niche or something that needs improvement.
