Product Development

KEY OBJECTIVE:

As a member of the Linux Engineering team at the Oracle China Development Center in Beijing, you will be responsible for diagnosing and fixing Linux kernel and user space problems encountered while running Oracle products. Interface with teams in the US and other locations when assistance is needed. Ensure that fixes are sent back to the Linux distribution vendors and to the respective package maintainer in the community.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Diagnose, debug, and fix problems reported in the Linux kernel and user space packages
2. Experts in diagnosing and fixing user space or kernel bugs
3. To provide 24/7 availability by being on call.
4. To work with QA team and release updated rpm package of bug fix to customer, develop fixes in a manner compatible with upstream versions
5. Should have basic knowledge of Oracle products.
6. Must be experienced with various Linux distributions
7. Experienced with respective Linux packages.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE and TRAINING:

Required Skills
1. Good working knowledge of C
2. Good verbal and written English communication skills
3. Excellent system-level debugging skills
4. Experience with one or more Linux distributions
5. Experience with patching and rebuilding Linux packages

Desired Skills
1. Basic Oracle knowledge

Experience Requirement:
1. 3+ years of software development experience
2. 2+ years in Linux software development

4. Experienced in respective Linux sub systems or packages (e.g. glibc, utilities like zip, unzip, boot scripts, boot loader , gtk libraries, programming languages such as perl, python, php, c, c++. Installation scripts, networking tools, daemons such as apache, cron, and shell scripting experience)

Responsibilities:

1. Will be responsible for developing the navigation software on 2.5G and 3G phones.

2. Will be responsible for unified product development for global market(US, China, Europe).

3. Will be responsible for programming on embedded Linux platform,especially Linux on Motorola phone.

4. Will be responsible for communication with US engineers as well as short term travel to US.
