In the first post of our Tower Tips and Tricks series we introduced you to Tower’s powerful drag and drop features. Our second post is all about keeping things organized.

1. Add /open / init folders per drag and drop

Drag a folder (or, if Tower is running, even multiple folders!) from Finder onto Tower’s dock icon to add/open/init in Tower.

2. Create folders / sort per drag and drop

In order to keep your repositories organized in Tower’s dashboard, you can create folders to group your repositories.

You can sort the folders and repositories simply per drag and drop. It’s that easy.

3. Repository icons

Include an image file named “Icon.png/jpg/gif” in the root folder of your repo to have it shown in the Dashboard.

3. Group Branches

Group branches/tags in the sidebar: simply use “/” as a separator character in branch/tag names to get a virtual folder structure.

4. Track Branches

Use “trackings” to have default push/pull connections and the “ahead/behind” badges in Tower.

Either set up tracking when you publish a local branch or right-click on a branch and select “Add Tracking”.

5. Open a Repository Folder in an External Application

Drag the folder icon in Tower’s window title bar on an external app to open the repo’s root folder in that app.

6. Reveal Files / Folders in Finder

“Reveal in Finder” (Toolbar) shows selected files (in ‘Status’ view) or the repo’s root folder in the Finder.
