Getting Started

Requirements

Supported Operating Systems

Flash Player Plug-in

 

Adobe Flash player plug-in version 11.1 (or later) is required.
If the plug-in is not installed, then when accessing your mobile cloud you are redirected to an Adobe Flash Webpage,to download the Adobe Flash plug-in.

To check the version of Flash you have installed click Flash Check

If Flash does not initialize after upgrading to version 11.7, then try restarting computer or reinstalling the plug-in

QTP 11.0 Add-in

Download and Installation:

  1. Close QTP
  2. Click here to download the QTP 11.0 add-in
  3. Go to the download folder, right click on the installer and run the add-in (in Windows 7 run as Administrator).
  4. Start QTP and check the MobileCloud add-in is selected. 

    If this dialog box does not open when you start QTP, select Tools, point to options, click General, and check Display Add-in Manager on Start up.
  5. Select Mobile Cloud from the View tab. 

Configuration

Configure QTP to get screenshots in reports
  1. From the Tools tab , select Options.


  2. From Run options click Screen Capture and open the Run Screen capture dialog box.
  3. Select the Always option .

Automatic Login and Password Encoding

These advanced features automate login and increase security.

Automatic Log-in

Using the Perfecto Mobile Settings XML file users have the ability to configure their credentials and encode their password


 


Perfecto Mobile QTP add-in can be configured to login to a specified cloud with specific username/password. In order to do this: 

  • Open the file : QTP-installation-folder\dat\Extensibility\TEA\PerfectoMobile\PerfectoMobileSettings.xml.
  • (typically this path is C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\dat\Extensibility\TEA\PerfectoMobile\PerfectoMobileSettings.xml) 
  • Remove the XML comment and fill-in the cloud address , the required username and password , and optionally the Use Https flag


Allows running QTP from other HP tools.Best practices: Make a back up copy of the XML file as the configuration will be overwritten if the add-in is re-installed.
 Auto login to UFT Mobile using HTTPS is available. This setting will connect UFT Mobile to the cloud using HTTPS.
 To use:
- Open the settings xml file

- Set <UseHttps>, in the <Cloud> section, to ‘true’ (default is 'false')

Password Encoding

Click the link to set up password encoding. 

Upgrading from QTP to UFT

Before upgrading:
  1. Uninstall QTP 11.0 add-in                        
  2. Uninstall QTP 11.0
  3. Install UFT 11.5
  4. Install UFT Mobile 11.5 add-in

Download and Installation:

  1. Close UFT
  2. Click here to download the UFT Mobile 11.5 add-in
  3. Go to the download folder, right click on the installer and run the add-in (in Windows 7 run as Administrator).
  4. Start UFT and check the UFT Mobile add-in is selected. 
  5. Select UFT Mobile from the View tab. 



If this dialog box does not open when you start UFT, select Tools, Options, General, and check' Display Add-in Manager on Start up'

Configuration


Configure UFT Mobile 11.5  to get screenshots in reports

  1. From the Tools tab , select Options.


  2. Select GUI Testing icon. 
  3. Click Screen Capture.
  4. Select the Always option.

Login 

  1. To Login click the UFT Mobile icon from the top menu, select Login and input credentials.

  2. Check 'Connect using HTTPS' if a secure connection is required and click ok

Automatic Login

  1. From the Tools tab , select Options.
  2. Click UFT Mobile 

  3. Check 'Enable user specific settings' .
  4. Input credentials. 
  5. Check 'Connect using HTTPS' if a secure connection is required and click ok.

Installation Validation (Quick Test)

To validate the installation:

  1. Login and open a device.
  2. From the File menu select New Test.
  3. Create a test and select Record (F6). 
  4. On the device, perform a few simple actions and check if UFT records the script.


  5. Run the script on the device and verify the installation. 

Password Encoding

Using the Password Encoder, users can increase security by encoding their password.
The generated encoded string can be used in the Automatic login configuration.

 

How to use:
Go to: Start > HP QuickTest Professional > Tools > Password Encode

UFT Troubleshooting

Add-in compatibility 

Each Cloud requires a specific add-in.
At sign in, if  following error screen is displayed:


  1. Click the here link, close UFT and follow the re-install instructions.
  2. Start UFTand Sign in.

No Images in Screen Capture

  • If the screen shot is missing from the test report, check the Screen Capture Configuration

Access Denied

  • Request user role access from cloud administrator

UFT Mobile Add-in is not Displayed

  • Select UFT Mobile from View menu
 

  UFT add-in is listed in the Control Panel 'Add / Remove programs section 


Network Requirements

  • Bandwidth -  Download speed -1.5M bps  for the first device plus 500 kbps for each additional device

Note: To Check your download speed and connection to the Mobile Cloud MCM Server click Bandwidth/Speed Test 

 

Troubleshooting

Note:If you have issues such as slow intermittent or no video:
  1. Check network requirements
  2. Run the tests described in this section
  3. Go to Test Results Analysis

Checking Port 1935


  1. Open a device.
  2. From the more link in the Link Menu Bar click Settings.
  3. From the Streaming tab select Settings.

  4. Ensure Default settings is selected (port 1935 )
  5. From the Streaming tab select Connections.
  6. Check that the the engine and device connections are selected as Default (RTMP in the URL).


Note: If RTMPT  is shown in the URL,the RTMP port 1935 is probably blocked. If this port is not active the video signal
is displayed via port 80, the slower standard communications port.This will affect video frame and update rates.

Bandwidth

  1. From the Speed Test link in Settings/Streaming click go to test and run the network test, once for the engine and once for the device streaming server connection.
  2. If prompted to update your client Java (TM) plugin ,follow the onscreen installation instructions.

   

 Test Result Analysis

The tests described in the previous section can be analysed and compared to the contents of the table shown below:

VPN


Network Security

If increased network security is a requirement, a VPN network can be added to your testing environment.

The VPN network is set up between corresponding IT Departments either on premises or as a hosted service.
