A Newbie's Guide on Revive AdServer （OpenX Source) 3.0.2 setup

Revive AdServer (previoulsy known as the OpenX Source is probably the only open source and free Ad Server software which are still under active development.  

However it's official documentation is still not availabe at this stage and even for some basic tasks  like serving a basic pre-roll Video Ads, it have taken days or even weeks to figure out for newbies like me. 

So I hope my blog can be a quick reference for other new comers for the initial setup before the official doc is released. 

The environment I experiment on is as below:

• Revive AdServer 3.0.2, (the latest release as the time of writing)
  
• a windows server 2008 virtual machine, 64bit,
• Mysql community edition,  
• Tomcat 7.0 (which serve as my test demo web sites on port 13300)
• Apache 2.2 which hosts(with php5.2) the adserver. 

Of course you will need a text editor to create configuration files, I used the free Notepad++ . 

Install the Pre-Reqs

1. setup the session folder of Php

Install the Revive AdServer

Create Campaigns 

Create Zones

Create an Video Ad. 

Video the Ads
