据台湾东森新闻网报道，台湾曾发生严重核安意外。位于台湾桃园县龙潭核能研究所内的贮存场26年前连续发生6次氢爆，造成辐射外泄污染土地。

　　报道称，当年核能研究所因副所长张宪义叛逃，让台湾核武器发展曝光。美国派人来处理，过程中发生意外，燃料棒年久劣化，其中的金属铀跟水气产生氢气，引发气爆，放射性物质释出随排水沟流到核研所下方公有地。
