I did my first mock test for ACT today and got a 29 composite score. This is within my anticipation. My weakness is on reading section that I only got a 19. This is very surprising to me because I got a 32 last time. But I did not follow the time limitation last time. After I graded my answers, I tried another passage and tried to figure out ways to get a high score. I found that the best score I can possibly get within time limit is 33: do questions from the last three passages all correctly, finish some reference problems in the first passage, and guess the rest. Without any chance will I have enough time to go through every passage carefully and answer every question correctly. I used to try this way but is convinced that I must let part go.

I will give the last three passages 10 minutes each thus I can spare 5 minutes to guess and do reference questions. Ten minutes is pretty much enough because I can read a passage very carefully within 5 minutes. I think it will be a good strategy to deal with the harsh timing situation in ACT test. I still hold belief on ACT test and I think it to be easier than SAT. Scoring over 34 can give me a guarantee for my application. I still have 4 more mock tests to take and I believe that I can improve through 10 days.

By reading operating system concepts, I found that operating systems is really intriguing and fun. I am glad that there is code in this book. Rather than merely interpreting operating system concepts, the book serves some practical functions as well. I am surprised that I can even run a program using Coderunner. It is good that I do not need to configure a PATH environment before I run the program. It took me a minute to figure out how fork() works. And I can learn a lot through reading such books.
