2012年SCI收录至少有一位中国学者(不包括台湾地区)发表的论文183,216篇(截至到2013年2月1日按出版年统计),其中学术论文170,857篇、综述4,491篇、会议摘要4,253篇、会议论文1,629篇、社论1,541篇、通讯1,409篇、更正523篇、新闻115篇、丛书58篇、传记22篇、书评4篇、书目1篇等。 2012年中国学者在6531种SCI期刊上发表了176,757篇论文(统计学术论文、综述、通讯、会议论文),发文量居前十位的期刊见表1、发文量居前100位的期刊见表2。发文量排名第一的为Plos One《公共科学图书馆·综合》刊登了中国学者发表的3481篇论文,该刊为OA期刊,论文的标准收费1350美元,如果以每篇出版费1350美元计算,2012年中国学者交给Plos One的出版费高达469万美金。有意思的是2011年前连续几年中国学者发文量排名第一的为Acta Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online《结晶学报,E辑:结构报告网络版》,2011年刊登了中国学者发表的1753篇论文,该刊2012年被汤森路透( Thomson Reuters )剔除。
