To monitor a system with multiple SAP instances, use the system-wide work process overview (Transaction SM66).

By navigating with the 口-〉 button, you'll see the following fields in the system-wide work process overview:

->Dialog work processes
    ~ Tcod: Code for the transaction that is currently running
    ~ CUA REP.: Name of the program from which the user started the
    currently running transaction (also known as the main program)
    ~ OYNP: Name of the dynpro last processed
    ~ Fcod: Code for the last function called in the current program
->For a background work process:
    ~ Jos: Name of the executed background job
->For both cases:
    ~ ExT. MEM: Current extended memory utilization
    ~ PRIV. MEM: Current heap memory utilization

Making changes

In the system-wide work process overview, you can change the following options:

Using the SETTINGS button:

->Display connections and status in status line

Selecting this option displays in the status line the server to which a connection is currently being established. This is helpful if, for example, the connection is problematic or takes a long time. By default, this option is not selected.

->Display only abbreviated information and avoid RFC
If you select this option, the system-wide work process overview gets its information from the message server rather than from each application server (through RFC). Because application servers report the status of their work processes to the message server only after a delay, the message server is not always up to date. If you deselect this option, an RFC connection to each application server is established for a check on the current status of the work processes. The information is therefore up to date; however, this takes more time. By default, this option is selected; that is, only abbreviated information is displayed. If you require a complete overview of work processes for a performance analysis, deselect this option and refresh the display frequently.

Using the SELECT PROCESS button:

A specific group of work processes can be found and displayed. This is especially necessary for large installations with hundreds of work processes. By default, waiting work processes are not shown.
