Far beyond the world we humans know, there is a remote and ancient kingdom. To most of us, it seems a frozen waste land. But to creatures designed for this stomaching cold, it's always been the paradise of owners. Snuggled deep in this protective ice, one little life just was beginning. For a week, she just lived in the darkness, starring at the circle of light  above her. What's that beyond it ? Curiousity leads her to peek into the light for the first time.

Nanu, she might be called, in the north a little polar bear.
The world outside is a blanking white, unfolded for her. It's just a place unlike any other owners, a west kingdom at the very top of our world. A kingdom of ice.

There is another young life exploring for the first time. She sees the blue world of ice water. Seela is a ox puppy, only hours old, but like the young bear, eager to discover the world around her. Like all new borns, they have much to learn. They are children of  Arctic. The lifes created by the ice around them. But the world is changing. They were facing challenges never before countered by these species. Their adventures began today.


It all begins once spring's on this snow-covered mountain. Nanu's mother has had enough for the crap cave.
She has remained in the birth den for six months without eating or drinking. In the dark winter, she produced the twins, nanu and her brother. It's 20 degrees below zero today. Pierce cold, perfect for the polar bear. Nanu has a little hesitating to leave the den. When your mother is a polar bear, and she calls you, you best be gone.

Nanu is ?. Her brother is a little timid.

She's ready to play anytime. Hey, HOLD ONE. There're more serious days to come. Surviving is so demanding here. Nanu and her brother have only 3 years to basic training. But waking up is enough for one day. The polar bear boot camp starts tomorrow.

From the snow moutain the ocean surface for 30 miles out is frozen into a hard sheet of ice.
Just beyond, that's the world of Sela's birth. Amazing ice flows and serves a practic nursery. Here, the ox mother can ? care her new born pup. Using the sensitive whiskers, they memorize each other's face for life. that's right. Those neat mustaches are not just for style. But Seela has a second face to learn. Another female has been waiting to Seela in the far bulks. She'll act as the aunt, she'll protect her until Seela is old enough to face the world alone. It's a 3-year commitment, starting now.
 The first She got to master is getting out of the water. If Seela fails, she's getting too cold and drown, as the aunt keeps watching   predators. Seela's mother patiently shows her how. The problem is, practices of somersaults has much more fun. Her mother can urge her 80-pound ?. But Seela got to master how to lift on her own. It's gotta be a long three years with this little handful. Aunt must wonder which she's signed up for. On the snow moutain, Nanu's brother has delay the start of the family's trip. He still hasn't quite mastered the bed hole. Nanu's mother  can't wait any longer. She's starving. Her only hope for finding food is to adventure down to the frozen ocean, the age-old hunting ground. and So they began the wandering life of polor bears, Leaving behind the birth place, for unknown adventures ahead. They soon pick up a little ?. Nanu's mother finds a warning sign.Tracks were left by the animal in the ice kingdom that can threaten her, a male polar bear. She know if that gives his chance, he might attack her pups. But the male polar bear is more intersted in something else. he is caught a sign on the wind, miles away, a new-born ox.
 
At the first glare, Seela looks like a easy picked. Aunt senses danger. As the bear is against on them, Aunt risks to block it. The bear is powerful all right, but weighs half as much as Aunt, and has no ? in water.
He's droped for now.

Seela is lucker than She has never known.
A female ox doesn't give the birth very often. So Seela is a treasure, not only by her mother and Aunt, and by the whole herd.

They are not just a group, but a close family, a really close family.all are topping each other.
They're all loving each other, loving each other's business. Cousins, Grandmothers, Grandfathers. What a family that doesn't have a scared uncle!

Not far off, a distant cousin of the ox is heading for the surface.
a ring seal maintaines by several hole through the ice field, her private ports between the sea and the air.

But the trouble is, she never knows what ferocious predators might be waiting at the surface.
She can handle ? there down. But the ring seal is the favorite food of polar bears. In fact, that's what Nanu's mother is hunting right now, followed by Nanu, and her little brother, and the fox, their little friend.

The ring seal has one great airline to against the bear: the ICE.
She can sneak into the cave, headed the heavy surface snow, hopes those bears can't find her.
Unluckily for the seal, Nanu's mother can smell through 3 feet's snow.
It's like playing hide and seek with someone with X-ray vision.
Nanu will soon learn it's not that easy to get a meal in the ice kingdom.
The prey's gave up 19 times for everyone's success.
But you can't give up when you got babys to feed.
A first meal in the six months since the days of Mother, and it becomes the milk for her pups, and for the clever ?. Leftovers.

21:10
Unlike the mother bear, a ox seldom hunts alone. When one gets hungry, the whole herd does. ?. This is Seela's first task(?). She only needs stomach, because it will last for three's days.
They work in team, looking for the remember of ? marks.
You think something as largely, as charge as warluses take something fierce. This is the battle ground. And Prey? A clam.
Each warlus can eat 4000 clams per meal.
It will take Seela's years to ?.
? with whiskers, ? and sucking the meat out.
But first, you gotta catch these slippy suckers.
In the chaos, some run, some even fly. The herd never gets every clam.
Those left behind ? in 5 years.
After three days, they feast all clams.
The herd tends to do everything together, ? even to digest.
Someone starts ?. And for you know.

By the end of Spring, Nanu's family and other bears in the ice kingdom are all so feasted. Seal Hunts fill their bellys.
In the Arctic, a time of plenty is a reason to celebrate.

In the ancient rhythm of the North, days of abundance for Nanu and her family end with the approach of Summer, the time of fasting for bears, whose hunting grounds crack open in the ? of the season warm.

The 24-hour sun penetrate long dark waters. And What is it magic!
The exposure of life draws hungry creatures to the Far North.
Across the ages, Summer always shorts the ice fields for short time.
But Cold Returns with Autumn. The ice quickly ? the coast, and grows slowly the sea world. Ready to break Summer fast, Nanu and her family, waiting for their hunting ground reform out on the frozen ocean, practising for the seal hunts to come.
The mother coachs them on the technique, and something else as well.
? Nanu, She tries to steer the kind of toughness and the determination not giving in. Nanu seems have what it takes. Her brother likes folksy.

Finally, a sign. Dark days hello the return of Winter.
And With it, the sea ice frozen ? enough to hunt on.
Just in time, Nanu and her family are hungry.
But something is different this year.
The ice isn't hard at all.
It's not like any Winter the mother bear have seen before.
They have to go back and wait for the ice to stiffen.
Until it does, they remain hungry.

Seela's family is also looking for the ice strong enough for holding them.

Weeks pass.
What animals of the ice kingdom can't know is their ancient ways of surviving are vitally being testified.
The sea and the air above it are warmer than the past.
The ice struggles to reform.


Finally, the ice returns here, But three months later.
All seems normal again in the ice kingdom. But there is too little snow to create a birth cave.
So the ring seal's pup is exposed on the ice, in the plain sight of their greatest enemy.
It's a challenge as well for Nanu's mother, whose special arts lie in catching the hiding prey.
How she is going to surprise a seal that can see her coming?


33:15
Her charge is a completely failure. Nanu reminds her Mother how it's done. "Yeah, thanks for the points, Kiddo."
The mother bear knows those birds fly for the food. So they follow the birds.
There's the meal somewhere nearby.
But the only way to reach it is to pass right by its owner, a male bear. Draven by hungry, they take the dramatic risk.
They escape, but their hunger grows.
And now, a fresh danger gathers, the Arctic blizzard.
Storm, winds, seem to ? more fury than in the past.
?.
The herd of warlrus deep in the water, to ? the storm.
In the sea, they struggle to keep together.
?.
A strong wave seperate Seela from the others.
Her mother and Aunt are searching desperately. But she is nowhere in the sight.
On land the temperatrue drops to minus forty.
The wind reaches 80 miles per hour.
The storm is taking at all.
The brother bear is suffering.
For the first time of Nanu's life, he is not right in her back.
The mother bear ?. He tries to obey. But hunger has made him too weak.
Nanu and her mother snuggle with him, sharing their warmth.
But as time passes, he dreams further away. And then, he's gone.

Nanu and her mother stay at his side. But finally, they must move on.
At sea, the mother and Aunt are still looking for Seela, beyond the range of their vision. She barely clings to life. She can't last much longer. But the struggle fails, along with the herd's hope finding her. But the mother and Aunt refuse to give up. Following a strong current, they go farer than before and manage to find what seemes to  lost forever , a youngster who holds up waiting for the two adults to always come for her.

Two springs pass in the ice kingdom. And Through each, a strange music rises from the lower ice.
In her second year, now showing off her little tooths, Seela's begun to notice the odd sounds.
There is the warlrus love song, produced through the young males.
And so complex ? it takes years to ? them until ? worth listening to.
Ladies got better things to do at the time.

43:00
Nanu has grown as well and two year's old, She's Still depending on her mother. But when the morning comes, her mother remains the distance. Changing conditions are forcing her mother to do something earlier than usual.
Nanu sees somethings in her mother's eyes she never sees before.
One look tells her the life with her mother is over.
The mother bear can no longer provide for them both. In order for them to survive, she has to drive Nanu away.
Leaving is the hardest thing Nanu's never done, but also hard for her mother.
She can't protect the young Nanu any more, nor even see how she feels. She may never see her again.
And so only in her second year, Nanu involves the life all alone. Well, not all alone.

Earlier than expected, the spring warmth ? the Arctic.
The hunting ground is flattered, there is no any seal here.
So Nanu has to beyond the ice she knows, hoping to find something to eat. Anything.
? Birds are new to her, hardly amounting for the teeth. But under the  circumstances, worth to investigate.
Nanu is about to discover, there is some special about these birds.
Nanu hasn't got a chance. What a kind of bird that fly to the ocean instead of  the sky? And something even more bizarre, the creature she's never seen before.

Nanu has came upon a herd of narwals, the uniques of the sea.
Their ivory ? are so sensitive. They're able to test the air and the sea, reading the temperature and wether.
Like lost travellers in the Arctic, narwhals roam the sea, barely silent witnesses to the changing times.
Never before has the Arctic ice broken up so earlier, and so ?.
Hunting is impossible. Unlike Nanu, Fox can't swim.
Stepped by the melting ice, he has to say goodbye to lesbian.

Nanu faces her own crisis, She's never been ? on the sheet ice, never be so hungry, never be in circumstances where her mother is training, with no hope at all.

Far in the sea, the warlus herd cling to a few remaining ice clots.
In Crappy Conditions, temper is ?.
Seela has never experienced the bad ice this year, but adults have.
They never once had this year.
Finally, one warlus ? a decision to abandon the shrinking ice.
They have to search for a new home.
They can't go to the shores near the snow mountain, because bears are there. So they take their chances in the open sea, earning for a distant island that will be safe.
They have to travel day and night on a week long, 200 miles's swim.
Back on the broken ice field, Nanu's whole world seems to be turning upset down.
She chooses to stay on ? where she can't find food or follow the scent of the prey out to the unknown sea.
Now it's the time to ?, but not to hesitate.
Driven by feels and wills of surviving, she risks everything.

Finally, they reach a refuge far at the sea, a rock island.
The herd is exhausted. Before they can rest, they must find a place to hold up.
Seela is too tired to swim another inch. But getting out could be a problem. Climbing up steep rocks is even harder than climbing onto the ice clot.
They have to lift 2000 pounds ? using only their straight flippers.
Maybe they should not ? those clams.

? before them, A male bear.
And Where is the bear, ... He is a local fox, dressing the summer camouflage.

On the rock island, he doesn't really need leftovers. There are more bird chickens he can possibly eat. There is no where to run. They are still too young to fly.

One yound still finds a refuge in the sea.
Another ?.
Nanu has ? for days and grown so exhausted. she is nearly drowned.
This tiny place to rest have saved her life.

On the Rock Island, the summer sun generates a heat wave. The temperature climbs wildly above freezing.
The warmth triggers exasperating itch. And itch must be scratched, no matter where, no matter how.

Seela has itches of her own, to escape the crash of her family, if only for a while.

Warluses are not designed for mountain climbing. But she pushes on. Aunt sees Seela wander off alone and starts to after her. As fast as the body allowes, suddenly Seela disappeares. When Aunt calls, she gets no response. Seela is strangly silent. Her adventure has taken her into a terifying return. she's ? and trapped in a narrow rage, and someone has spotted her.

A male polar bear is moving close to attack. And Seela takes the desperate action. She will be ? but live. Now she races to warn others. Aunt is the last one to leave the island. Seela's mother finds her, and Aunt joins them. The bear byes this time. Seela and her family retreat another part of the rock island.

They join other herds dropping here with vanishing of the Arctic ice.
The changing condition have left many ? and others desperate and hungry.

Nanu reaches the shallows of the rock island after a long weekend on the sea.
For a day now, she ? the scent of the prey in the wind. But now she gotta look to them, she's not so confident. There is no ring seals. Nothing in Nanu's experiences tell her how to take on these big warluses. A adult ox is three times her weight, armed teeth ?. Maybe she can find a weak enough, or small enough to handle.

Hunger compels her forward, despite the odds. But she is too young, and too small. And that be completely a commedy. Her last chance seemes to be no chance. Nanu may have come all this way, only to starve.

A male polar bear, however, plans to attack from the sea and makes his move when the unsuspected herd is napping. The male bear approaches down with the wind. He sneaks in undetected.

Seela makes for the water behind her aunt, but the bear grasps her. Aunt doesn't hesitate and races back to save the youngster. Her Courage allows Seela escape to the sea. In the active devotion, aunt makes greatest sacrifice.

Seela waits. But Aunt will not return.

Meanwhile, Nanu is going weak. Without food, she can't last much longer. She knows male has no habit to share and he can easily kill her. BUT now it's the time to call the toughness her mother taught her. She refuses to give in. He must share his killed or she would die. And so she stays and keeps standing until he allowes her to take what she needs. A single death deserves ?.

For the next 4 years, Nanu and Seela are draven to this rocky outpost as the sea ice melts earlier and earlier. The Increasing warmth has made demanding the world more difficult. Disrupting the ancient rhythm of the seasons, gradually ? the ice kingdom, turning its right masters into refugees. All over the arctic, animals wait longer and longer for the signs of the ice return. At long last, a old ox in the herd catches the far scent of the sea ice and cold. It's time to go home.

Nanu also returns the ice kingdom of her birth. In the spring of her 8 years, there is an ? to be in home. Most of her life, she avoids male bears. Now she finds herself drawing to one. and So they begin communication as old as time. BUt it's specially important in the disappearing world. Later that year, draven by instinct and memory, Nanu climbs the snow mountain. For the first time since she's pup, ?. She disappears for the winter beneath the ice and snow.

Meanwhile, Seela's ? and boys take a notice. She knows what they after. But Seela got no time for just any old men. She has standards, unlike some other females she knows. Seela is holding on for something special. When the male is, well, motivated, He can sing fifty-hour straight. One of Romios still ? for Seela. Something about ? his song finally moves her.

On the snow moutain where she was born, Nanu produces the miracle of the North.
And she's got a brother.

With the arrival of the spring, Seela delivers the miracle of her own.
A new pup, A new mother, A new Aunt.
All across this special place, children of the Arctic make their ways into the world, as there have thousand years. Their fates are forever tight to the shifting rhythm of the ice that founds there. Their lives ?. that keeps the kingdom there's.
