Reading Plan for The Rat Year

I think the most important thing you should do if you are a programmer,like me, is reading,.Every time when you are in coding a program but suddenly found that there were some problem in your code but you simply can’t resolved, you will be noticed that you are not get enough knowledge of your own job.But if the problem already exists, it’s not a wise time to have it done by reading, because the pressing project cycle will limited you doing so. So make some reading plan is absolutely a good way for our programmer, and then effect you life. In the year 2007, I have read about the classical MFC book:Dissecting MFC by J.J.Hou. It’s not a new book yet, but I never read it completely and never have the desire to do so before, because as for me ,when I first entered software area, This book is a rough stone for me to to dissect(not as the book named it), I just kick it out from my good reading selections. But after I read it in the past several weeks, I admit it’s a great book which will promote your understanding of MFC profoundly, not only the appearance ,but also the essence of different aspects of MFC. As for the 2008, I have planned to read about 4 to 5 books, these include “Programming Application for Microsoft Windows”(a fabulous book which describe the kernel level programming in windows system), ATL internals(teach you how to implement COM under ATL framework), and Professor Panaimin’s COM 原理与应用.if there were still plenty of leisure time, I will also want to read some books of newer technology(newer than MFC,COM, etc.), For example, the DirectX technology and game programming, it’s also a favorite topic for me, maybe I will develop video game some day(^_^).And, I think no one can be the specialist of each Microsoft’s technology, so until the end of this year, these readings is absolutely enough, I must reserve some time for my private life.To have some fun outside the computer is also important. I will not read novel, it’s not needed because there were no interesting stories in our days’ novel, In present, every thing is like eating KFC, every writer want to write a book which can get huge profits quickly, the reader have already accustomed to get needed information from Web(me too yet) but not through reading book- like we done it before. It’s time to change the way we thinking with in the past, just ten years before, owning a personal computer is more or less a luxury idea for most Chinese people. But now you can see the Net-bar in every little corner of every Chinese’s little town. I think they are even more than the radiations in Chernobyl. I don’t like books like Harry Potter (I think the movie is great though), I think I have already become one part of the fast-eating culture unconsciously. Get the movie’s rating from IMDB.com and download it from Web(of course it’s illegal, I know it) then watching it, a very effective way of getting and waching good movie. But now there were plenty of high rating movie in my hard disk, and I simply can’t figure out which one is more brilliant, and I almost have no time to watched them all.So, I programming for my life, I programming for my interest, and now I found that I programming more or less for the Microsoft and USA indirectly some time.And I think our life have become more American style.
