Study in Coursera Before you study abroad

I am writing this post in English, because this is useless to those who do not use English.

If you are considering studying overseas, I strongly suggest you take Coursera lesson. In my computer school, we have 3 Chinese masters from main land China and Taiwan. I am one of them. I understand what the teacher say without any difficulties. The other two are struggling in understanding the teacher. Now, the first semester has ended. I passed all the lessons and got 100 in one of the test(3 persons got 100). I do not know the exact performance of the other two Chinese, but I guess they have a lot of troubles because they always ask me questions when they fail to understand the teacher. Sometimes, I have to teach them and repeat the teacher's words.

I am helping them, because we are all Chinese, but don't expect there will be someone helping you all the time. 

After you have got your offer to the university. You usually have months. Find some English lesson in Coursera or other online course website. Try listen to the teacher without subtitles. I guess you will have difficulties. Don't worry, go back and listen to it with the subtitles on. Try your best to guess the meaning of the words of your field. Use the dictionary to check if you are right.

I have to warn you that our English is the worst. Take Indian students for example. Even if they perform the same in the IELTS test. They perform much better in class in the UK, because they use English in their classes in India. Chinese students cut off English and English in their major. There are two different English!

General English is not enough for you! Find some English lessons online, like Coursera. Hope you all perform well overseas.
