There are four key technology components needed to provide an information fabric: distributed cache technology, a centrally managed distributed metadata repository (catalog), distributed data access middleware, and integrated data management (see Figure 1). Information Fabric需要由4个技术组件支持：分布式缓存技术、集中式管理分布式元数据存储(目录)、分布式数据访问中间件与统一数据管理(下图)。 Forrester expects information fabric technology to provide interfaces through XML/SOAP (with XQuery) as well as SQL to enable a richer model of information than just relational tables. Forrester预期information fabric技术将提供通过XML/SOAP(含XQuery)和SQL的接口来实现比单纯关系型表格更丰富的信息模型。An information fabric should be able to support any kind of information — structured, unstructured, and semi-structured — providing location transparency, delivering secure and consistent business data, and adapting to changing business policies at runtime.
