我们曾经学过的表示“导致”一类意思的词和短语有：contribute, lead to , 今天我课外看到了一个也可以用来表示这个意思的词，pave the way for ,为。。。铺平道路；导致；例句：

1：pave the way for sth.

为。。。铺平道路，为。。。准备条件

2：Their economic policy pave the way for industrial expansion.

3:they’re trying to blast away the hill to pave the way for the new highway.
