都市美信男 Metrotextual

经常在网上聊天的人肯定知道不少网络缩略语和表情符号，比如：LOL（laugh out loud）、ASAP（as soon as possible）等。这些缩略语有时也会出现在手机短信中，接收的人如果对这些不了解的话，那就有可能会出笑话的。比如，近两年在国外男性发短信时常常会用到的这个代号x，你知道是什么意思吗？

Metrotextual is a description of men who use “kisses” when texting.

Metrotextual用来描述发短信时给对方“留吻”的男性。

Men have become so openly affectionate with each other using mobile technology they’ve taken to signing off text messages to male friends with a kiss (x), giving rise to a new generation dubbed ‘Metrotextuals’.

如今的男性表达情感的方式越来越大胆，竟有这样一群人在互发手机短信时，在结尾处互留热“吻”符号(x）。这就是最新兴起的“都市美信男”一族。

There’s a certain etiquette within metrotextuality. A lower case 'x' is the preferred sign-off for most (52 percent) compared to 17 percent for a bolder upper case 'X', with one in three sharing the love in a big way with multiple lower case kisses (xxx).

“都市美信男”们还有自己的一套规矩。多数（52%）人在留吻时用小写的x，17%的人会更大胆地使用大写X，而用小写x“留吻”的人当中有三分之一的人还会连发几个小写的“吻”(xxx)大表“爱意”。
