AOL and Yahoo, two of the world’s biggest internet service providers, rolled out a certified email system that requires advertisers with each message pay up to 1 cent for delivery. After the money being paid, the advertiser gets enlisted as legitimated. Goodmail then embeds a cryptographically-secure token in all the company’s email that would prove it genuine. In that way, images and web links included in the email will never be stripped out. Emails can bypass gauntlet of spam filters and go directly into users’ mailbox.

However, some marketers affected by this system, called it email taxation put out only to create a new source of revenue for AOL/Yahoo. The net neutrality between rich and poor is a major issue. While providing preferential treatment to the rich, the poor cannot afford such treatment, though mean good their emails get blocked and have no way to reach potential customers. Some people even doubted whether the email system is really powerful as declared to combat spam, junk mail and all other nuisances for users. Confronted with complaints and disapproval from different areas, AOL’s Graham seems quite confident. He scoffed at those totally as competitive chatter and soar grapes. If widely adopted, the email system could make a large fortune and surely will entice other internet service providers to follow.

As I consider it, the certified email system emerged to accompany the day by day growing e-business. Once someday it gets equally matured in China as western countries, email account providers will surely take the chance to offer a price for advertisement messages, simultaneously supply with better service so as to attract companies. At first technology should meet users’ demands and international standard. AOL/Yahoo’s email system has not yet been put into use. But I believe it will do a good job for I believe in the head status of the two most effective large companies in US technology companies.
