eclipse3.7安装maven插件失败问题解决

在eclipse3.7上安装maven2插件的时候，总是报错：
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=epp.package.jee, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).
No repository found containing: osgi.bundle,com.springsource.javax.jms,1.1.0.

在网上查了哈，说是先要安装gef插件，但是安装了gef插件之后还是安装失败。
最后找到的原因是：
因为我先配置了MAVEN_HOME环境变量，如果先删除掉MAVEN_HOME环境变量在安装gef插件，最后再安装maven插件就能成功。
至于是什么原因，我也说不清楚，还望高人指点。。。
