Meme,Meme,I like you!

   For the first time i met you ,I don't recognize you at all,and you made me confused at that time,when you said ,"One meme that's gathering a little steam is Personal Information Architecture. "What does this sentence mean?Especially what does "meme" mean?

   I asked  for help from some of my friends whose English is very good through the QQ tool,but to my disappointment,none knew this word and none could tell me the real meaning of  this sentence.Some of them even told me that this word doesn't exist or regular at all.Are they right?

    No,it exists and becomes popular these days,while the concept of  web2.0 becomes familiar to more and more persons.Actually,meme was first coined Dawkins, by analogy with “gene”.We call it mimi(迷米) or ni zi(拟子) in Chinese.Then Glenn Grant expanded this concept,he said,"Meme: A contagious information pattern that replicates by parasitically infecting human minds and altering their behavior,causing them to propagate the pattern".As it is analogy with "gene",a meme should be replicated,propagated ,transimited and inherited.Therefore,individual slogans,songs,blog and picture can be a meme but not necessary.Only things like those can be replicated,propagated,transimited and inherited should necessary be a meme.For example,Confucius (孔子) is a meme,and the Analects of Confucius(论语) are memes,but my songs i just created last night may not be a meme,because none may want to learn it from me as this song is so difficult to learn by others,hoho.

    Meme,now,is familiar to me,and I find this word is very useful in the web2.0 era.So,meme, i like you!
