Millions of people are legally downloading music worldwide as part of the iPld revolution-dance, classical, rap...but they still can't listen to the Beatles.
Time and again, Apple Records( which retains the rights to the Beatles's catalog ) has refused to give permission for users to download their music on iTunes( a division of Apple Computers ) or any other service.
But Fortune magazine says all that may be changing. There has been speculation for years that the Beatles will finally go online but the two surviving memebers have always denied it.
Now it looks like Apple Records and Apple Computers are nearer to closing a deal. One idea reportedly being discussed - a Beatles' brand iPod like the widely popular U2 iPod.
The deal could still far through but one thing is certain, expect an advertising and marketing explosion, if the two Apples finally decide to let it be.
