Initiate: In a strong friendship, both people need to invest their time and energy planing activities and initiating conversations. When one person does it all, the friendship is lopsided.

Be understanding: We all do things that are wrong or even dumb at times.As a good friend, try to understand why the other person has made a mistake. Don't be tempted to shout, "How could you do that?" Instead, help your friend work through the concequence of her mistakes.

Be caring: When a friend is hurting or sick, he may not be very much fun to be around. But he still needs your friendship. A telephone call, a special gift or some other gusture will show your friend you care.

Have fun: friendships where only problems are shared can become gloomy and depressing. Bring laughter,joy and even silliness to your friendship.

Building a successful friendship is never easy, but it's always worth the effort! Just remember: to have a friend, you must first be a friend.
