yahoos -

i wanted to address all of you on the news we've just announced. theboard of directors and I have agreed to initiate a succession processfor the ceo role of yahoo!. roy bostock, our chairman of the board, isleading the effort to identify and assess potential candidates forconsideration by the full board. the board will be evaluating andconsidering both internal and external candidates and has retainedheidrick and struggles to help in this effort.

i will be participating in the search for my successor, and i willcontinue as ceo until the board selects a new ceo. once a successor isnamed, i will return to my previous role as chief yahoo and continue toserve as a director on the board.

last june, i accepted the board's request that i assume the ceo role torestructure and reposition the company as a whole in order to moreeffectively meet the fast-changing needs of both users and partners.since taking on the ceo role, i have had an ongoing dialogue with theboard about succession timing. thanks in large measure to your tirelessefforts, we have created a more open, competitive yahoo! and we believethe time is now right to transition to a new ceo who can take thecompany to the next level.

despite the external environment we face, the fact remains that yahoo!is now a significantly different company that is stronger in many waysthan it was just 18 months ago. this only makes it all the moreessential that we manage this opportunity to leverage the progress upto this point as effectively as possible. i strongly believe thathaving transformed our platform and better aligned costs and revenues,we have a unique window for the right ceo to take ownership over thenext wave of mission-critical decisions facing the company.

all of you know that I have always, and will always bleed purple. iwill always do what I think is right for this great company. while thisstep will be an adjustment for all of us, i know it's the right one. ilook forward to updating you on this process as soon as the board hasdevelopments to share, and will continue to do everything i can to makeyahoo! fulfill its full potential.

我希望向各位确认一下董事会刚刚宣布的一项决议。雅虎董事会刚刚与我达成协议，准备启动我作为雅虎CEO的卸任程序。雅虎董事长罗伊-波斯多克（RoyBostock）将会负责评估和确认其他可供选择的CEO候选人。董事会将对内部和外部的候选人进行考虑和评估，而且已经聘用了猎头公司海德思哲（Heidrick&Sstruggles）来负责此事。

我也会参与到候选人的搜寻中，而且在继任者未确定之前我还将继续担任雅虎公司CEO。一旦新任CEO人选确定，我将会回到以前“雅虎酋长”(ChiefYahoo)的位子并将继续以董事会成员的身份为雅虎服务。

 去年六月，我接受了董事会的要求担任雅虎CEO一职，并开始对雅虎公司进行重组和人员的重新安排，以便使得雅虎以更高的效率应对用户和合作伙伴快速变化的需求。自从我担任CEO以来，我就开始与董事会商讨卸任的时间表问题。感谢你们孜孜不倦的努力，我们已经创造了一个更加开发且更具竞争力的雅虎。因此，我认为现在已经是时候把CEO的职位让给能够带领公司迈上新台阶的人了。尽管我们面临的外部环境不容乐观，但是雅虎已经与18个月前有了很大的不同，在很多方面也已经变得更加强大。因此我们就更要紧紧抓住这一机会，继续发展。由于雅虎的平台已经实现了转型，而且成本和收入之间也已经更为协调，因此我完全相信，我们能够为新任CEO提供一个独特的窗口，以便他能够更好的接管雅虎，并在今后面临问题时，为公司制定关键性的决策。

 所有的雅虎人都知道，我的血管里一直都奔涌着雅虎紫色的血液。只要是我认为对雅虎有利的事情我都会去做。尽管我此次的卸任会对所有人都产生一定的影响，但是我知道这是一个正确的抉择。我期待着与各位分享关于我卸任事宜的后续程序，也会继续尽我所能让雅虎发挥出最大的潜力。谢谢大家
