It's a great honer to be the toastmaster of 250th meeting in EF Phoenixes Club on 6th July, 2013. 

Suggestions from Rich Zhang:

1. dressed too casual. 

Formal suit would make you more competitive and also can enhance your confidence and mental aura.

2. better the transitions

2.1 add some jokes or critical things in the instruction

2.2 pick one or to point to conclude by criticizing or joking and then transfer to another role

1. 介绍prepared speaker时，最好不要介绍其project的objectives，这个是由evaluator来做的事儿

2. 介绍prepared speaker时，最好从speech的title入手，对其加以自己的理解或者幽默，来引出speech

Pain and Gain

Explainthe theme:

Dear fellow members and distinguishedguests:

Today, we have less attendee then usual. Iam not sure if this is because it’s the 250^th meeting of our club. ButWhat I can be sure is that I am going be the most famous toastmaster is thehistory of our club. Definitely!     Maybeour Korean friend Jackie W Lee doesn’t exactly understand this, but it’s betternot to understand.

Turn back to our theme. I have a privatestory to share with you.

When I was a child, there was a river infront of my house. My parents always told me not to play in the river, becausethere many glass in pieces and other sharp-pointed things that can bleed yourfeet! However, children are born to love water! We can constantly see children playingwater when it rains nowadays, let alone a river! But several times surgeries onmy feet told me that I’ll never go into the river without wearing shoes.

That’s my initial experience about ‘painand gain’. Though, it’s very painful. 流泪

承：Though, we only have half number of attendees compared to ourregular meeting, but I believe with our effort, we’ll have a more wonderfulmeeting. Do you agree with me?

启：Ok, next, we are going to enjoy the table topic section, which isvery interesting and creative, I’m sure you will like it. Let’s welcome TTMEva.

 

承：What a fantastic TT, once I heard of the innovation from Eva, I wasso eager to participate in it. And today, all attendees of tt just surprisedwith their performance. By the way, we might already have enough candidates ofimpromptu speakers for the contest in Nanjing.

CC#4: How to say it.

Objectives:

1. Select the right words and sentencestructure to communicate your ideas clearly, accurately, and vividly

2. Use rhetorical[rɪˈtɒrɪkl]修辞的devices to enhance and emphasize ideas

3. Eliminate[ɪˈlɪmɪneɪt]排除，消除jargon[ˈdʒɑ:ɡən]难懂的,隐语,方言and unnecessary words. Use correct grammar.

From the title, we can see the soft part in our heroic [həˈrəʊɪk] Jackie’s warmheart.

What has happened to the dogs? Why are theycrying? Jackie will share his inner feeling about this with us.

Objectives:

Use voice volume, pitch, rate, and qualityto reflect and add meaning and interest to your message

Use pauses to enhance your message

Use vocal variety smoothly and naturally

 

承：When Jacky W. Lee canceled hisspeech due to the delay of his flight in wechat, Eva volunteered to give herCC6 at once. I took for granted that she must have had a detailed script, becauseshe did it once at the club of her company. But she surprised me with emailingme ‘Script is not made’. Wow, that’s my final objective. Always be calm in anysituation. Deliver speeches without preparing script.

Welcome back, dear attendees. Next sectionis evaluation for table topic section. It’s such a bonus for the speakers thatyou’ll be evaluated by a charming girl whose job is associated with wine. Andshe also has finished her CC. let’s welcome Joy.

 

承：You evaluation is just asbeautiful as yourself. What I want to emphasize is you just have a specialitythat attracting the gentlemen. Maybe it’s the sweet-smelling of wine make weall drunk.

Before the meeting, I had a guess that whena beauty encounters a hansom guy, she will be very nice evaluating him. See, Ihave everything under control.

Wrapup the whole meeting:

Dear all, Thanks for your great effort totoday’s meeting. Here I have another story to wrap up the meeting.

You know, as I’m a shy man, up to now, Istill can clearly remember the scene that when I was on my first visit to atoastmaster club call Campus. I didn’t know exactly what the ‘table topicsection’ is about, but I knew it’s a chance to challenge myself, so I volunteeredto give an impromptu speech. Though, I acted so awkwardly, even standing stillon the stage without much words. But I realized that I was going to gain. Gainwhat I’ve dreamed of. Although, it’s a painful process.  Here’s hope everyone can insist on ‘pain togain’ to better our life.
