微软试图导演互联网版的“赤壁之战”?
             ------微雅联合对Google=孙刘联合对曹操?

最近看易中天的《品三国》,如醍醐灌顶甘霖洒心,反复咀嚼,不但没有丝毫的厌倦,反而越看越有味道,越品越有意思,尤其是赤壁之战那段甚为精彩。


在赤壁之战中,孙刘联合是浓重的一笔,若是两家不联合,一则不可能出现三足鼎立的局面,二则“铜雀春深锁二乔”恐怕多半会变成事实。


有趣的是,孙刘联合的故事似乎在微软与雅虎之间上演。三国时期的三方是刘备、孙权、曹操,而时下三大巨头为雅虎、微软、Google,都是一强两弱。微软联合雅虎是为了对抗Google,这和当年孙刘联合抗曹颇有异曲同工之妙。但二者完全一致么?事实并非如此。

 

一,联合动机是否相同?

 

孙刘联合的动机是对抗曹操,当年曹操大军压境,曹操强而孙刘皆弱,后二者不得已而为之,若不联合,最终的结果很可能是唇亡齿寒,曹操灭掉刘备进而一鼓作气顺江而下把孙权也给灭了。

 

孙刘不联合则必亡,而微软和雅虎呢?当年的刘备是“几无容身之地”。而微软主动抛出绣球雅虎却尚存疑虑,看来雅虎也并非到了病入膏肓非得求助于微软的地步,这是一个不同。另外,既然是微软主动提出联合对抗Google,因而微软也不同于当年“固守一方”的孙权,而是“以攻为守”,这是第二个不同。

 

二,联合方式是否相同?


孙刘联合只是简单的合作而已,说白了完全是为了各自的利益,击败曹操之后各自为政。而微软和雅虎的联合却不是如此简单,微软和雅虎的联合不是简单层面的合作,而是深层次的渗透与整合,同时,微软须得付出446亿美元的代价,而雅虎也必将成为微软之“马仔”。


微软联合雅虎的目的是完善自己的产品线,叠加业务以对抗Google。雅虎在互联网运营方面有着丰富的经验,而微软则更擅长软件领域。二者似乎有很强的互补性,不过收购雅虎才是第一步,其次再是漫长的整合过程,最后才是对付Google。而三国时期自赤壁之战之后,孙刘联合大规模作战的机会并不多,后来还翻脸,这是个最大的不同。

 

三,联合结果是否相同?

 

最关键的问题是联合结果如何?当年孙刘联合,在兵力和智囊两方面上都有了很大的突破,这是赤壁之战大获全胜的主要原因。如今微软和雅虎联合,表面上看其产品线和业务也将得到极大的充实,但他们能打败Google么?

 

其实微软联合雅虎有“揠苗助长”之嫌,二者在搜索领域均大幅落后于Google,试图通过收购来赶超Google几乎不可能。无论品牌、用户、技术、市场份额都不能通过简单的联合予以充实,何况微软雅虎本来就很差劲。这好比刘备没有诸葛亮,孙权没有周瑜,单是车船、兵力、粮草辎重等叠加仍然是一群不堪一击的乌合之众。

 

所以,对微软联合雅虎对抗Google的这一事件,我是持很大的怀疑态度的,仅以品三国的风格品之,如有不妥,敬请谅解。

Recently I enjoyed “ThreeKingdoms” of Mr. Zhongtian Yi, I feel that program stimulates megreatly. After several times’ enjoyment, I have no tiring but Ifeel it is more and more meaningful and tasteful, especially thepart of “The War of the Red Cliff”, that’s one of the mostsplendid parts.

 

In the part of “The War ofthe Red Cliff”, there is one important union which is made up bySun and Liu. If not, the first result is that there won’t be thesituation of “Three Kingdoms”, the second result is that it ispossible for Cao Cao to beat Sun and Liu in Red Cliff.

 

What’s more interesting isthat the story of “Three Kingdoms”, may be played by Microsoftand Yahoo. As a matter of fact, today Microsoft unites Yahoo tofight with Google. That’s just the same as what happened in“Three Kingdoms”. There are so many same points between them. Butthere are still some differences.

 

The motivation ofunion

 

The motivation of “Sun-Liu”union is to fight against Cao. We know both Sun and Liu are weakerthan Cao so they have to combine. If not , both of them will bekilled off by Cao.

 

How about Microsoft and Yahoo?At that time, Bei Liu has no choice. This time Microsoft broughtforward the idea of union intimately, we can see Yahoo is not soweak to go on with its life. On the other hand, Microsoft is notthe same as Quan Sun. The strategy Microsoft takes up is “bestdefence is offence”. That’s the second difference.

 

The form of union

 

The union of Sun and Liu isjust for simply cooperation. That’s to say after the defence theywill say goodbye to each other. But how about the union ofMicrosoft and Yahoo, I think it is more significant. Theintegration is more important. Microsoft has to pay at least 44.6billion dollars.

 

The objective of the union isto perfect their product line. Yahoo is excellent in Internetoperation and Microsoft is outstanding in the field of Software.They have complementarity for each other. But that’s the firststep to purchase Yahoo, there will be a long proceed for theintegration. That’s the greatest difference.

 

The result of union

 

The key problem is the resultof union? The union of Sun and Liu lead prodigious breakthrough introops and brainpower. That’s the important reason why Cao wasdefeated in Red Cliff. And Microsoft unites Yahoo, the product lineand service will be greatly enriched. But can they beatGoogle?

 

So the union is not so useful,both of them are falling behind Google at a large scale. It isalmost impossible for Microsoft to catch up with Google bypurchasing. No matter what field, including brand, users,technology, market share, Microsoft can’t obtain them byunion.

 

So, I have doubt about theevent of Microsoft’s purchasing. I just discuss it from the pointof “Three Kingdoms”. If no proper, please forgive me.
