Dialogue1:
A:Where are you going?
B: I’m going to the store. I need to buy some new razorblades.
A: At this hour? It’s almost midnight.
B: I know. But I have a job interview tomorrow. I’m out of sharprazors.
A: I guess you don’t want to make a bad impression with a badshave.
B: Exactly. To be honest. I hate shaving every day.
A: I can’t sympathize. I don’t have to shave every day.
B: Some guys don’t. they’re lucky. I have to. Or I start to looklike a bear.
A: Maybe you should let yourself look like a bear.
B: Very funny. What kind of job or girlfriend. Would I getthen?
A: That’s true. But then you wouldn’t have to shave everyday.
B: Some things are worth the trouble.
A: As long as you’re happy. I’m happy. Anyway. You’d better gobefore the store closes
B: Right. I’ll be back in a little bit.
Dialogue2:
A:Look at the time . It’s five minutes past nine.
B: I guess I’m late for work again.
A: I hate to ask. But why are you late so often?
B: If you must know. It's because I usually take too long eatingbreakfast.
A: Really? I almost never eat breakfast especially during theweek.
B: I don’t see how you do that. I have to eat breakfast everyday.
A: Why? Is it a habit for you?
B: No. if I don’t eat breakfast. Then I don’t have enough energyduring the day.
A: I guess I’m lucky that I don’t have that problem.
B: Yes . you do. Do you notice how tired you get later in themorning?
A: That’s when I drink coffee to wake me up.
B: That works. But it’s artificial. You’re not really getting anyreal energy.
A: Maybe. But I’m not late for work, either.
B: Work is not the most important part of life.
A: It is for me.
B: Breakfast is not a habit. It’s a healthy way to live.
A: I’d love to talk about this more. But I’ve got to get back towork.
Dialogue3:
A:Did you check your e-mail today?
B: No. I didn’t have time. why?
A: Our friend Steve just got a new job in Chicago.
B: That’s great. By the way. Do you check your e-mail everyday?
A; Every morning and night. It’s a habit. I like to stayinformed.
B: What are you afraid of missing? I doubt your life is thatexciting.
A: Very funny. If I’m already on the internet. Why not take anextra minute to look for new e-mail.
B: I don’t. because half of my e-mail is just advertisements. It’sgarbage.
A: Mine too. But I still like to know what’s going on.
B: Well. Then I can count on you to tell me what’s happening withour friends.
A: Don’t worry. I won’t let you down on that job.
B: I know. That’s what I think is so funny.
Dialogue4:
A: Ithought I saw you out running this morning.
B: You probably did. I was out jogging
A: That’s good. Do you go every morning?
B: I try to. Unless the weather’s bad or I’m not feelingwell.
A: Really? I never feel well. If that means jogging atsunrise.
B: Does that mean you don’t enjoy running?
A: It certainly does. Especially so early.
B: I understand that. It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning alot of times.
A: Then why you do it?
B: It’s become a habit. I don’t feel awake in the morning unless Igo running first.
A: I guess I could see how that might be true. But I rather get abig more sleep.
B: I have to get up out of bed and start to get dressed before Ican think about it.
A: The alarm goes off and you get up immediately.
B: Yes. Immediately. Otherwise. I’ll realize how tired I feel andjust fall back asleep.
A: What about when it’s cold in the morning?
B: Like any other activity. I just wear warmer clothes.
A; I guess that makes sense.
B: Maybe you should come with me sometime.
A: Maybe not. You have fun. I’ll sleep late.
Dialogue5:
A: What are you doing now?
B: I’m going home to water my plants.
A: Do you have to do that every day?
B: Of course. Don’t you need water every day?
A: I hadn’t thought of it like that. Do you have to do anythingelse to take care of them?
B: Not really, I just have to give them plenty of sunlight and someplant food.
A: That’s not too much work.. but isn’t it hard to do it everyday?
B: Sometimes it’s not convenient. But it’s easier than taking careof a child.
A: What does that I have to do with the subject?
B: One day I want a child. If I can’t take care of a plant. How canI take care of a child.
A: So. The plant is just practice for
B: No. not really. It’s just something I tell myself in order to beresponsible.
A: Oh. I see. Well. I’d better not keep you from your plants.
B: You can come with me and see what I have to do.
A: Okay. This could be fun. Maybe I’ll learn something too.
B: Maybe so. Let’s go.
